| Jupiter's Moons |
 |
Io |
Io is one of the most geographically unstable bodies in our solar system. It has over
400 active volcanos. Its surface features numerous mountains, and extensive lava flows.
In imitating these violent physical characteristics, the music generates a driving impetus
and unpredicatable sudden vehment alterations. |
 |
Europa |
Europa is roughly the size of our Terran moon. The surface of Europa is smooth and
entirely covered in ice. Due to the moon's apparent youth and smooth surface features
it is believed to contain a vast subterranean ocean, capable of supporting life.
The music generates an ostinato, slowly transforming itself from one manifestation to
another, like the slow transmutation of ice formations. |
 |
Calisto |
Calisto is comprised of both rock and ice. It closely resembles Mercury in size, but has
one-third of its mass. Calisto is believed to possess an enormous subterranean saltwater
ocean capable of supporting extra-terrestrial life. This composition uses the two keyboards
in tandem to create a steadily continuous effect. Rock and ice completment each other. |
 |
Ganymede |
Ganymede is our solar system's largest moon. It has a molten liquid core, and a subterranean
ocean sandwiched between layers of rock and ice. Various areas of the moon vary significantly
in surface features, some giving indication of having been bombarded by meteorites while others
are relatively undesturbed. The music imitates an orbiting satallite. |
